Clean Install

A clean install is the process of re-building your operating system from scratch.

How to do a clean install:

To do a clean install you mucst have a copy of the operating system installation disk. This should have come with your computer. Insert the disk into the drive and restart your computer. It will give you the option of booting from the disk, you should choose this. The first time you run the install you should do it in recovery mode, by pressing "r" when prompted by the computer. If that fails to fix the problem you will have to boot for the disk again, this time choosing to reformat your harddrive. Before you do this you should make sure importaint documents have been backed up because reformating will wipe all but the basic programs. If you have trouble doing this by yourself, you can bring your computer to the SCIC for assistance.
