Your computer is filled with devices, they are the pieces of hardware that make-up your computer. Your ethernet card or Network Interface Card (NIC), which allows the computer to communicate with the Internet, is a device, as are any modems. Your mouse, your monitor, your diamond-encrusted-Master-P-keyboard-accessories-for-yacht/tank-use-only--these are all devices. Devices communicate with your operating system via drivers.
Drivers come with the devices when you buy them, often in the form of installation CDs. Therefore, always keep all software and instructions that come with any computer or computer accessory you purchase. Devices can also be found for particular hardware on the manufcaturer's website.
On a PC, you can troubleshoot problems with devices and drivers in the Device Manager by right-clicking on my computer and going to the Hardware Tab.
Look for yellow exclamation points, yellow question marks, and red x's. Any marks are generally bad. See what's wrong with that device or its driver by right-clicking on it and go to properties. You can type the error into google and see if anyone else in the world has had your problem and solved it. Better, if connected to the internet, try updating the driver by right-clickingo n it and choosing update driver.
