Electrostratic Discharge

Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) is the interjection of static electricity into your computer. ESD will destroy a computer's components, so prevent it by neutralizing the electrical charge in your body by touching on the power supply of the computer. The power supply is the big box that connects the computer to a plug outlet.

When installing new hardware, hold it by its edges like a photographic. Do not touch inside the edges, if you do you run a high risk of destroying the component hardware.

Do not do hardware work on your computer when it is turned on.
