Frequently Asked Questions

How do I import audio, video or images to iMovie?

  1. Choose File -> Import.
  2. Select the file you want to import.
  3. Click Open.

You can also drag files from your desktop or a file to the Clips panel, the timeline viewer, or the clip viewer. Audio files must be in AIFF format or another format that works with QuickTime?.

iMovie will not record the input from my microphone? (How come iMovie won't record my voice?)

In order to have your voice heard in iMovie you need to follow some simple steps:

1. Close all programs.

2. Insert your microphone into the computer.

3. Go to System Preferences under the apple menu and open up the sound settings.

4. Make sure the input is set to the type of mic you are using. For example, if you checked out a mic from the SCIC, you probably want to have your settings set to iMic USB.

5. Test in the sound panel to be sure your voice is being heard. Make sure you have the input volume set to a relatively high level.

6. Now Open iMovie. Try recording, it should work. If you have problems, go to the SCIC desk for help.

7. If this doesn't work, go into the GarageBand? program and check the preferences and set them to iMac USB for input.
