Mathematica

Mathmatica is a program used to do college-level math on and is required for some Carleton math courses.

Locations

Mathmatica is available in the CMC on the second and third floor labs, which are maintained by Mike Tie in CMC 305. It is also on any of the machines maintained by the SCIC (first floor CMC, Sayles, Willis, and the Libe).

Downloading and Installing

PC Users:

  1. Open COLLAB and navigate to Departments/MACS/MathematicaInstallers/
  2. Drag the "Mathematica5WindowsInstaller" folder to your Desktop
  3. Drag the "Mathematica5 HowTo? (Windows).doc" file to your Desktop
  4. Open "Mathematica5 HowTo? (Windows).doc" and follow its instructions to install Mathematica.

Mac Users:

  1. Open COLLAB and navigate to Departments/MACS/MathematicaInstallers/
  2. Drag the "Mathematica5MacInstaller" folder to your Desktop
  3. Drag the "Mathematica5 HowTo? (Mac).doc" file to your Desktop
  4. Open "Mathematica5 HowTo? (Mac).doc" and follow its instructions (starting with Step 2) to install Mathematica.

Linux Users:

  1. Come to the SCIC and ask Kevin for the CD
